Private Legal Practitioner, Akwasi Boateng has argued that it was timely and necessary for the military to have invaded the chambers of parliament following some packets of violence associated with the election of the Speaker for the 8th Parliament.
According to him the nature of chaos that erupted in the chambers during the election of the Speaker for the 8th Parliament demanded the security intervene to ensure order.
He told Samuel Kojo Brace in an interview on the Jolly BReakfast Show that the timely response from the military saved the situation from escalating.
‘We shouldn’t wait for something bad to happen before we call for an intervention since most MPs are in their 70s’ he added.
He refuted claims that the military’s action was intimidating.
