Inchaban Market women refuse to move into newly built market
Market women in Inchaban, a suburb in the Shama District of the Western Region have refused to move into a new market constructed purposely for them.
Speaking to the Queen of the traders, Auntie Enso Nyameye indicated that the location of the market is not favourable looking at the distance of it and the main town.
She indicated the market is not fully completed as there are some final touches to be applied which if not done, will be a major problem incase there are heavy rains.
Also, the location will slow business as it far from the main town and will discourage customers from making the journey just to purchase their goods.
She said, “Business is slow these days, and looking at the distance which is very far from the town, it will shut down business completely as some people will feel reluctant to make long journeys to come to the new market and purchase our products.”
Auntie Nyameye further stated the route to the market is a dangerous and they are scared something will happen to them on their way back from the market in the night.
