Immigration Service intercepts 36 ‘border breachers’ in Western Region
The Western Region Command of the Ghana Immigration Service over the past two days had intercepted a total of thirty-six ‘boarder breachers’ at the Western border. Groups of three were intercepted by the Border Patrol Team; eleven (11) Ivorians intercepted at Berlin, an unapproved entry point near Newtown Border Post, twelve (12) Burkinabes, a Ghanaian and a baby belonging to one of the Burkinabes were intercepted at an unapproved route at Nzemtenu near Appollenu, to exist from to Ivory Coast, and another twelve (12) other ECOWAS nationals were denied entry into the country via unapproved route at Appolenu.
Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Immigration Service, Western Region Command, Assist. Insp. Moses Manford Akakpo says the these foreign nationals are unrelated. He disclosed that samples have been taken from all the ‘border breachers’ who attempted to escape the country (Ghana) via these unapproved routes.
