Minister-Designate for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Lawyer Ebenezer Kojo Kum has stated categorically that he is against LGBTQ+. In an answer to a question during his vetting, Lawyer Ebenezer Kojo Kum indicated that the laws of the country frown on the practice. He added that most Chiefs in the country have also spoken against LGBTQ+.
“I will not recommend these practices to be tolerated in this country. Because our laws on marriage have not been amended. Marriage as defined in our laws involves is a union between a man and woman. So with the situation and enthusiasm that we are getting from our religious leaders and chiefs against the practice, I’m certain that when I get the nod, we will all collaborate”. He noted
Lawyer Ebenezer Kojo Kum added that the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has already made a public statement against the practice.
He notes that the position of the president is clear. He was however quick to add that the punishment for people involved in LBGTQ+ is a determination by parliament. He promised to make contributions when the issue comes up on the floor.
