IAAF Doha 2019; Day One… Ghana’s Joe Paul takes to the tracks at 3:05 today…
Ghana’s sprint sensation and member of the gold-medal-winning quartet at the recent All African Games Joseph Paul Amoah will make his IAAF World Championships debut today in Doha in the men’s 100metre heats.
Expectations are considerably higher than usual following a remarkable breakthrough season where Joseph Paul Amoah, popularly known as ‘Joe Paul’, run 20.08 seconds on the first day of the NCAA Division I Championships in Austin Texas. Joe Paul’s time of 20.08 seconds was enough to smash the national record which was previously held by Emmanuel Tuffour who run 20.15 seconds in 1995.
In the 100metres , Joseph Amoah also recorded a personal best time of 10.01 seconds.
While Joe Paul’s time is remarkable, his 21st ranking on the best 100metre times recorded in 2019 means he will have to improve on that in the heats at the Khalifa International Stadium at 15:05GMT today.
