I will not legalise homosexuality in my tenure of office- Akufo-Addo
President Akufo-Addo speaking at the Installation of the second Archbishop of the Anglican
Church of Ghana in the Ashanti region on Saturday, 27th February, stressed on the fact that, homosexuality will not be legalised in his tenure of office.
The president said, “I have said this before, let me in conclusion stress again, that it will
not be under the presidency of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo that same-sex marriage will be legal,
that same-sex marriage will be legalized in Ghana, it will never happen in my time as President.”
“Let me repeat, it will never happen in my time as President,”
The presidents recent remarks comes off from the growing LGBT issue in Ghana and how everybody is concerned about their recent activities. The opening of their new office sparked an outrage, which has lead to politicians, opinion leaders, religious leaders and citizens, having a bite of the issue to share their opinion on how they feel about the growing LGBTQ activities in Ghana and how they feel about it.
Their have been divided opinions as most of the citizens turn to be against it and some turn to support the issue in the legalisation of the activity to grant them freedom and guarantee their safety as well.
The presidents latest remarks seems to settle the dust now as he has made it clear that, there will be no legalisation.
