The legitimate chief of Fijai, Nana Barima Ekow Gyesa II has set out the records straight about a recent brouhaha surrounding who remains the real chief of Fijai.
Nana Barima Ekow Gyesa II, who is also the acting President of the Sekondi Traditional Council and a member of the Western Region House of Chiefs, called on all individuals to discard rumors suggesting another person has been installed as the chief of Fijai.
Secretary to the Fijai Stool, Mr. Emmanuel Tweneboah who addressed a press conference on behalf of the Kokodo Ebiradze Royal family opined that Nana Barima Ekow Gyesa is the only gazetted chief of Fijai.
He indicates that Nana Barima Ekow Gyesa has not been destooled. He adds that there is a gentleman known as Daniel Dadzie who unlawfully installed himself as the chief of Fijai recently whilst there is still a gazetted chief.
He adds that the conduct of the said gentleman and his family falls contrary to the laws of Ghana, and Police will deal with them in due course.
“This same gentleman (Daniel Dadzie) and his family as far back as April 2019 issued a writ at the High Court in Kumasi asking for the details of Barima Ekow Gyesa II to be expunged from the records of the Sekondi Traditional Council, as well as the Western Region House of Chiefs and National House of Chiefs.
The case was transferred to the Sekondi High Court and later struck out since that forum was inappropriate”. Mr. Emmanuel Tweneboah noted.
Mr. Tweneboah added that there is currently no court order relating to the destoolment of Nana Barima Ekow Gyesa II as the Chief of Fijai.
There is currently no guilt or charges leveled against Nana Barima Ekow Gyesa II by any other family or stool in Fijai.
We urge all residents of Fijai and its sub-communities to stay calm and be assured that our Nana Barima Ekow Gyesa II is still the only lawful and gazetted Chief of Fijai recognized by the Sekondi Traditional Council, Regional and National House of Chiefs, and the State as well”. Mr. Emmanuel Tweneboah noted. Added.
Mr. Emmanuel Tweneboah urged calm and assured residents of Fijai and its adjourning communities that, Nana Barima Ekow Gyesa II will continue to ensure peace reigns in the area.
“Fijai cannot remain in the past forever. Our collective resolve and desire are to seek peace and move our community forward. Without Peace, Progress and development will elude the Fijai community. We cannot allow any quarters to destroy our peace”. Mr. Emmanuel Tweneboah concluded.
