All final year students at the Junior High School level in the Essikado-Ketan Constituency are to benefit from the Member of Parliament’s initiative of providing free mathematical sets. Joe Ghartey who is the parliamentary representative for the area has procured these items as part of his personal and yearly program of supporting education in the area.
Acknowledging the stress and constraints some parents have in providing for the wards who sit up for their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), Mr. Joe Ghartey took the initiative to provide these instruments so, each child is not denied an opportunity to complete basic education.
As a peri-urban constituency, Joe Ghartey noted that itis his expectation that students are supported to access education to the highest level possible.
Speaking in his stead during a donation of these instruments to schools in the area, Constituency Secretary, Thomas Amoah stressed that parents especially needy one deserve the support to better the lives of their wards, and most importantly advance their studies with the Free Senior High School policy.
“It’s been difficult for some parents to afford this mathematical set and that it is the initiative of the Member of Parliament to get these items to the students. This will therefore assist them to perform better in their exams. Most of the communities in this constituency are deprived and it’s very difficult for them to get these items. We’ve been doing this every year and it will be distributed to all schools in the constituency. Each and every student will get a mathematical set,’ he explained.
The Headmistress of the Ketan Catholic JHS, Madam Francisca Dankwah Hall was very appreciative of the gesture. She noted that; “it just came at the right time for the exams.”
She thus urged the students to sit up and get a better result in the coming exams, so they could prove their excellence to the Member of Parliament.
