In a special preseason friendly game at the Hohoe Sports Stadium, Division One Premier League team Hohoe United Football Club (HUFC) defeated Premier League opponent Nsoatreman Football Club 3-0 to win its maiden game.
At the largest AstroTurf stadium that hasn’t been finished, football fans and HUFC supporters cheered on their team during the 90-minute play.
The opening 45 minutes of play saw all three goals scored, with HUFC’s John Boamah scoring twice.
Boamah made his presence known by successfully converting a penalty kick in the 18th minute.
Benjamin Nyefene scored the second goal in the 26th minute, barely a few seconds after a water break.
In the 40th minute, Boamah scored his second goal of the game and third goal overall by kicking a free kick.
Nsoatreman FC player Caleb Asamoah expressed optimism before to the game, however luck evaded his squad.
The match will be played outside at the club, according to Mr Asante Kenneth, Deputy Public Relations Officer (PRO), who also informed supporters and football enthusiasts around about the status of the stadium construction so far.
Mr. Jonas Amissah is the head coach of the HUFC, while Mr. Maxwell Konadu, a former Ghanaian international football player, is in charge of Nsoatreman FC.
