After years of court litigation, the Chiefs and people of Apremdo have been given the green light to celebrate the Kumdum Festival.
For several years the chiefs and people of Apremdo have not celebrated the festival following a court injunction.
The Sekondi High Court presided over by Her Ladyship Justice Hannah Taylor has set aside the injunction on the festival by the queen mother of the community who wanted to hold the final funeral rites of a late chief before any festival is organised.
Nana Egya Kwamina IX, the chief of the area speaking on the JBS this morning, said they are delighted to celebrate the Kumdum festival after a long court tussle.
He said, “A different faction in the Apremdo community took me to court to put an injunction on the Kundum Festival with reasons that, the final rites of the late chief have not been organised, that I am not a royal and also I am not the rightful heir to the throne.”
“The injunction was issued in 2015 but after a court deliberation into the matter, it saw that the defendant’s claims was not valid hence nullifying the injunction.”
Nana Egya Kwamina also said the Kundum festival will celebrated in the month of September 2022.
