A heavy rainfall which occurred between the hours of 12pm to 2pm on Monday April 26, 2021, destroyed a three unit classroom block at Wassa Ekutuase in the Wassa East District of the Western Region.
The classroom block with a staff office is reported to be the first school block built for the community as a junior high school block. The building was under repairs after it has with stood the test of times.
It is reported that classes were being held when this heavy storm started; which scared both teachers and students. The teachers moved the students to a different block for safety. Unfortunately, the rains started and removed all the roofing on the three classes, leading to the disruption of classes.
According to the teachers, they need a new class room block immediately to enhance teaching and learning. Unfortunately, three teachers and a student named Mathias Obi were injured.
