A stoppage time penalty by Naby Keita condemned Hearts of Oak to a 1-2 defeat as Kotoko run out victors in the first instalment of this seasons Super Clash with Hearts of Oak.
Kotoko took the lead through Justice Blay’s powerful header after 11mins before Joseph Esso restored parity with a header after a goal mouth melee on 65mins following a corner kick. Kotoko’s Naby Keita settled matters from the penalty spot after a controversial penalty decision deep into stoppage time. The result home leaves Hearts on 12th position with 7points while Kotoko move up to 4th with 12 points.
On Saturday, Medeama pipped Ashgold by solitary Prince Opoku Agyemang strike from the penalty spot at the Akoon Park in Tarkwa. The result condemns Ashgold to their second successive defeat after last week’s reverse at home to Berekum Chelsea. The win moves Medeama to 3rd on the league table, with just a point behind leaders Berekum Chelsea. Ashgold drop to 6th with 10points.
In the top of the table clash, Aduana Stars rescued a point at Berekum to halt Chelsea’s impressive run. Stephen Amankonah’s first half penalty was cancelled by Pius Asante Yeboah to ensure Aduana remained within touchinh distance of top spot. Chelsea sit top with 14points while Aduana are second with 13points.
