Former Council of State Member and business Magnate in Asankrangua, George Dadzie has said he believes strongly that the Goldfields Western Region Invitational Tournament being organized under the auspices of the Western Regional Minister will yield positive results judging from the selfless and professional way the Organizers are going about things.

He made these remarks when the trophy tour train stopped at Asankrangua and visited his radio station, Royal FM and paid him a special visit in his office.

He bemoaned the the current state of the two biggest and oldest clubs in the region- Sekondi 11 Wise and Sekondi Hasaacas. “In the past, when we talked about football in Ghana, Western Region featured prominently through the exploits of 11 Wise and Hasaacas. The region used to supply a lot of players to the national teams. It’s however, not the case anymore. It pains me to see our biggest clubs going down” Mr Dadzie posited.

He, however, said he believes this initiative from the Western Region Sports Committee will reignite the passion of football in the region.

He used the opportunity to thank the Regional Minister and the Organizers for such initiative and pledged his support for the tournament.

The Goldfields WRIT is scheduled to start on 21st September to 29th September, 2019.
