The Ghana Statistical Service, will in the coming Population and Housing Census, deploy two innovative systems to enhance data collection and validation.

Enumerators for the exercise will have access to a ‘Computer Assisted Personal Interview’, which practically render the conduct of the census paperless. Another innovation being deployed is the digitization of the demarcation exercise, where enumerators would no longer resort to printed maps during the exercise.

Speaking at the sidelines of the Inaugural ceremony of the Western Regional Census Implementation Committee, Head of Monitoring and Evaluation for the 2020 Population and Housing Census, Stephen Amoah indicated that the innovation will improve data integrity and precision.

Asked if they foresee any challenge with the new innovation, Mr Amoah answered that risk of network failures and or non-availability of internet connectivity have already been identified, with some mitigation strategy already mapped out.
