Ghana Gas promises to provide scholarships for journalists
Journalists in the Western Region are to expect some incentive from the Ghana National Gas Company Limited to build their capacity in the oil and gas industry. This offer, according to the Head of Corporate Communications for Ghana National Gas Company Limited, Ernest Owusu Bempah will be in the form of scholarships.
Addressing journalist in the Western Region over the weekend in a press soiree, Mr Owusu Bempah explained that the scholarship will offer beneficiaries to advance learning in the industry to enrich their reportage and career development.
He added that management had already initiated deliberations into the subject and shall be concluded soon.
Mr Owusu Bempah disclosed that the company is in talks with degree awarding institutions in Ghana to develop some program along the oil and gas sector to enhance knowledge in the media space.
The media space was filled with some speculations of safety lapses with the 11 kilometer Ghana Gas – Karpowership pipeline project, after President Nana Addo turned on valves for first gas to flow into the power-ship on December 7. Commenting on the dire implications of such news to the national asset, Mr Owusu Bempah entreated journalist to be circumspect in their reportage.
“Our doors are always opened, and if you need the facts you come to us and come for the facts” he advised.
