Ghana is making great strides to match up with advanced countries, in areas of technological innovations, policy development and implementation, that addresses the most essential needs of the citizenry; Presidential Staffer, Charles Bissue has argued.
In his view, the world over, has focused their lenses on “this promising African country”, and understudying solutions championed by government in addressing issues of development. Mr. Bissue in an exclusive interview on the Jolly Breakfast Show said, for the leadership of President Akufo Addo, the West are now emulating innovative solutions taken in areas such as healthcare.
“We started the medical drone project, now Britain have started theirs. We started contact tracing, and now the Americans are doing same. Weren’t they the initiators of such innovations, and we learning from them?” he questioned.
He continued that government has been very responsive in managing the COVID 19 pandemic due to the foresightedness of the President. Likening this novel coronavirus pandemic to a test of the President’s leadership, Mr. Bissue said the threat of being overwhelmed by the crisis have been mitigated as a result of the exceptional leadership demonstrated by ‘Nana Addo’.
“Leaders emerge in difficult situations like this…and that is what our President has demonstrated.
“We should be thankful to God that the President took that political decision… proactive measures were put in place to manage this pandemic” he said.
Mr. Bissue stressed that it is within the vision of government to improve health infrastructure not just for the COVID 19 pandemic but for other future crisis that might befall the country.
“In the midst of it, he said- I am working for the next generation and not election, so that in future when there’s another pandemic we could be better placed to manage it. We must be battle-ready. Such measures are what drives the commitment to the building of the 88 district hospitals. It is not a political talk” he stressed.
