GFA Decides : Congress votes in favor of 18team league…King Faisal, Oly to compete
The highest decision making body of the Ghana Football Association, Congress, has today voted in favor of an 18-team league, at the on going Elective Congress.
The motion which was put forward by the chairman of the Normalization Committee Dr. Kofi Amoah, was strongly opposed initially but when it went to voting, 64 out of the 120 delegates voted in favor of it. The decision means Accra Great Olympics and King Faisal will be the two new clubs to join the Ghana Premier League for the new season.
Congress however agreed that at the end of the new season, 5 teams would be relegated to allow for a return to the normal 16 team league.
Congress has also officially truncated the 2017/2018 season which was suspended following the expose by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
