George Floyd’s great niece Arianna, four, was shot while in bed.
The four-year-old was gunned down at her family home after she paid tribute to her great uncle at protests in 2020.
The suspects are unidentified as it stands.
They reportedly shot at the family’s home in Texas.
Arianna is expected to survive, after undergoing emergency surgery.
Her dad spoke out to ABC 13 news, saying: “My daughter jumped up and said, ‘Daddy, I been hit’.”
He broke down in tears during the live interview.
George Floyd was born in 1973 and died aged 46 in Minneapolis, in Minnesota.
He was born to George Perry and Cissy Jones Floyd.
He has four siblings.
Floyd was murdered by Derek Chauvin, a white Minneapolis police officer, who pressed his knee to Floyd’s neck for 9 minutes and 29 seconds.
Chauvin was fired and charged with second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
He was found guilty on all three murder and manslaughter charges last April.
On June 25, Judge Cahill sentenced Chauvin to twenty-two and a half years in prison.
The harrowing footage of the death went viral and sparked a wave of protests worldwide, including in Birmingham, as the Black Lives Matter demo was held in Victoria Square, in the city centre, during the summer of 2020.
