Gella Foundation to raise $100K to purchase Ventilator & Vital Signs Monitor for Tarkwa Municipal Hospital

Gella Foundation, a registered community-based non-profit making organisation has launched a fund raising project in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality, to procure some biomedical equipment for the Tarkwa Municipal hospital, and also provide food supplies for about two thousand children with disabilities.

The organisation aims to raise an amount of $100,000.00 with this projects.

This amount, will cover the cost of procuring one ventilator, five vital signs monitors for the Tarkwa Municipal Hospital and Person Protexticr Equipment for Community Health Posts (CHPs) within the Tarkwa Nsuem Municipality.

Additionally, the donations made into the fund, will enable Gella Foundation, procures some three month insulin supplies for two hundred diabetic patients in the municipality.

At the launch on Friday May 1, 2020, the foundation made a donation of some relief times worth GHC 10,000.00 to the Tarkwa Municipal hospital.

The items included, one hundred twenty pieces of 2 Ltrs- gallons of liquid soap, and sixty pieces of 2  ltrs-gallon of sanitizers, 1000 locally manufactured nose masks, 30 rolls of jumbo tissue papers and 20 boxes of bottled mineral water.

In an interview, the CEO and Co-Founder of Gella Foundation, Gloria Williston indicated that their intervention is expected to aid the facility to fight the novel coronavirus.

“In contacting the Municipal Hospital, and the Social Welfare Department, it came to the foundation’s attention that to be well equipped for this fight against Covid19, the vulnerable which are the disabled are usually left behind in socioeconomic decisions and therefore they need our attention at a time like this. Also, some hospital equipment and Personal Protection Equipment (PPEs) need to be made available to our heroes in this battle, even though the government has promised, and is working on bringing them PPEs hence the Foundation’s decision to raise funds to support the community and the Hospital”, she said.

Medical Superintendent for the Tarkwa Municipal Hospital Dr. Frederick Sarpong expressed his profound gratitude to the Foundation for their immense effort to raise a hundred thousand dollars to purchase such valuable items to support the community and the Hospital.
