Galamsey Fraud: OSP’s investigation may take some time but I got the patience- Charles Bissue
Presidential Staffer and former Secretary to the Inter Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining; Charles Cromwell Nanabanyin Onuawonto Bissue has reiterated that his faith is unfettered by accusations and allegations of he being corrupt as impressed upon by Anas’ Galamsey Fraud. Mr. Bissue believes his innocence or otherwise of the allegations leveled against him will surely be determined by the Special Prosecutor as he completes investigation into the matter.
Speaking on Point Blank of CITIFM, Mr. Bissue entreated Ghanaians to trust their patience in the process and investigations being taken by the Special Prosecutor.
He intimated upon a subtle provocation from the host of the show; Umaru Sanda Amadu, as to whether or not he took a bribe as seen in the video produce by Tiger Eye P.I’s Anas Aremeyaw Anas, the Presidential Staffer said; “I did not take money to circumvent the process…and secondly, vindication is in the womb of time. I will wait for the special prosecutor to finish his investigations and then, come to talk about it”
Asked if he’s had any regrets in his former role as the Secretary to the IMCIM, Mr. Bissue responded calmly, that; “If you asking me about the job I did, I haven’t regretted doing it…given the opportunity I will do it a thousand times”
So far the Criminal Investigative Department (CID) have cleared him of the charges.
The IMCIM was a specialized committee that was established by the President to spearhead the sanitization and regularization of the small scale mining sector, in manner that mining could be more sustainable. The country before then was plunged into a state of environmental and ecological degradation, threatening aquatic life and resource. Some significant gains were made in the process; much of which are indicative of enhance licensing regime, and adoption of affordable and responsive technologies in mining.
