Fourteen new infections pushes COVID-19 case counts for Western Region to 247

The Western Region has recorded fourteen (14) new cases of the novel coronavirus, taking the region’s to a total of two hundred and forty-seven (247).

These new infections are mainly from the Prestea Huni Valley (with 13 new cases) and one from the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis, pushing the total case count for these two areas to seventeen (17) and one hundred and twenty-one (121), respectively.

Pursuant to a proposition to establish some four zonal isolation centers in the region, the Regional Health Directorate have undertaken an orientation exercise for staff that will manage these units/centers.

As at today, only two persons has recovered from the viral disease. One person; a nurse who contracted the virus and has passed away, was reported to have some underlining health condition.

So far, all districts in the Western Region have recorded a case(s) of the virus with the exception of Amenfi West Municipal, Amenfi Central, Amenfi East and Wassa East Districts.
