Former Executive Committee member of the Ghana Football Association, Kojo Yankah has described as unfortunate, claims by Ghanaian Politician Kennedy Agyapong that he won’t invest in Ghana Football because George Afriyie was not voted as President of the Association.
According to him, the outspoken member of Parliament for the Assin Central Constituency cannot force on the football fraternity who they elect as their leader.
Kennedy Agyapong in an interview on Oman FM said he won’t invest in Ghana Football because his friend George Afriyie did not win the elections.
“He (George Afriyie) is my friend and I would have come on board to support him but he didn’t win the elections so I won’t support it (association).”
“You didn’t vote for the person whom I can reason with about some of the challenges confronting Ghana football so why should I waste my money to come and support you?
“Read my lips I won’t do that” he told the Accra based station.
However, Kojo Yankah, speaking to Takoradi based Skyy Power FM in an interview, has fired a sharp response describing the comments as unfortunate.
“It’s unfortunate Kennedy Agyapong will say that. Since I started doing football, it’s been almost 30 years and Ken has never supported football before,” he said.
“So why has he come out to say since we did not vote for his candidate he won’t support football, when he hasn’t even supported football before.
Kojo Yankah who also served as the Chairman of the Western Regional Football Association, has candidly told Kennedy Agyapong that he cannot force a leader on the Ghana FA.
“Ken cannot dictate to us as to who we should vote for! Why should you say since we didn’t vote for George Afriyie, you won’t give us money. Meanwhile you have never done that before. He has to retract that statement if he really said that,” Kojo Yankah concluded.
