Essikadu-Ketan: Fijai to get artificial pitch through $1m per constituency.
Construction of an artificial football pitch at Fijai will commence in the first week of March, 2020, Skyy News can confirm. The project will be funded through the ‘One million U.S Dollar Per Constituency’ initiative.
Member of Parliament for the Essikadu-Ketan Constituency, Joe Ghartey who confirmed this to Skyy News today, also disclosed that the contract has been awarded to Wembley Sports Construction Company Limited; an indigenous artificial pitch construction firm.
”After a lot of consultations, we have decided that the next developmental project should be the construction of an artificial pitch to be situated in Fijai. The aim is to build infrastructure that becomes a vehicle to support talent development and growth in football. When completed, our youth can have access to world class pitches that they can train on to hone their talent. Of course the next leg of the conversation then becomes the training they receive and we have plans for that as well because the coaches or sports trainers doing these must be worth know their onions. The contract has been awarded to Wembley Sports Construction and I am confident they will deliver on time and meet the specifications we require” he mentioned.
Project coordinator for Wembley Sports Construction, Alex Anim Boateng indicated that work will commence in the first week of March, 2020 as soon as the paperwork is concluded.
”For us, this is another opportunity to cement our legacy as the go-to-guys when it comes to a thing related to construction in sports. So we will do our best to begin and deliver on time. The agreement is to begin and complete the project within a period of six months. We have a agreement in place and should sign the official contract soon” he explained.
