The Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital has commissioned a Diagnostic Center to improve the standard of healthcare delivery to inhabitants of the Western and Central Regions as a leading referral centre.
The Medical Director for the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital, Dr. Joseph Tambil, in an interview with the Press, revealed that the facility will provide much needed modern healthcare services such as spirometry, echocardiogram, pelvic scan, ultra and holter scan.
According to him, the diagnostic center will be of immense benefit to residents of the two regions and other adjoining regions.
“The Diagnostic Center will improve their service delivery and bring satisfaction to customers because patients will no longer have to travel long distances, risk their lives and spend money on transportation to enjoy those services in Accra,” he explained.
He added “the prices that they will be having these services for are the same in Accra and that will make patients save a lot.
On the Public-Private-Partnership arrangement for the establishment of the center, Dr. Joseph Tambil explained that the hospital provided the space, logistics, and will provide the patients as well, whilst the private sector provided the equipment needed to complete the Diagnostic Center.
Dr. Seth Winfred Baah, Chief Executive Officer of the MedStar – the private sector company involved in the setting up of the centre – said the new facility will ensure a quick diagnosis of medical conditions, and Doctors can manage those diagnoses quickly for patients who come to the ENRH for treatment to get the best of cares.
He explained that some of the equipment at the center will be used to “diagnose heart conditions, lung conditions, conduct ultrasounds and monitor the blood pressure and heartbeat of patients”.
The Dr Joseph Tambil, Medical Director of the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital, and staff of the hospital encouraged persons who will need the services of the Diagnostic Center to end their trips to Accra and visit the ENRH for these treatments.
