The Electoral Commission has taken a third count of the ballots for the Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency following a serious protest mounted by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) on the results of the parliament elections.
After a third count of the ballots, the NPP’s candidate and incumbent MP George Mireku Duker, polled 31,946 votes, whiles the NDC’s Justice Abban managed with 31,845 votes, and the GUM candidate pulling 2,171 votes.
The counting is ongoing for the independent candidate Joy Joycelyn Andoh who early polled 28,846 votes.
The earlier votes that were reported had the incumbent leading marginally with 58 votes. But with the latest figures, George Mireku Duker’s vote has effected a total of 101 votes against the main contender.
Currently, some heavy security has built up at the collation center awaiting a final declaration by the Electoral Commission.
