COVID 19: Zoomlion disinfects Takoradi Airforce base

The Airport at Takoradi Airforce Base, courtesy  Zoomlion Ghana Limited, has been disinfected.

The arrival hall, departure hall, VIP lounge and other surfaces in and around the base, were all disinfected with chlorine-based solution, this morning. Similar exercises were taken in the Takoradi Technical University and the University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa, all in the Western Region, some weeks ago.

Western Region Manager for Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Alhaji Abdullah Abdallah in his briefing with the media after the exercise said their intervention, as taken in other public facilities, is yielding greater results as the risk of contracting the virus from surfaces in these places is minimized.

He explained that the decision to disinfect the airport, “is that its another area that people gather”, and that it became prudent to include it into their disinfection program.

Base Commander, Group Captain Eric Agyen Frimpong who was very appreciative of the intervention by Zoomliom, stressed that the base has an average traffic of 500 each day, and that they could not underestimate the risk of having the infection spread via the usage of the facility.

“To be frank with you, we have about 500 people passing through the base, taking flight either to the rig or to various destinations everyday.

“So we are at the front-line because anybody could pick the virus here, once it finds itself here” he stated.

Capt. Agyen Frimpong added that the base has positioned hand-washing devices at advantage spots to get both officers and other patrons to cleanup anytime they use the facility. He disclosed that the Command, insist users wear a nose mask anytime they come to the base, as a precautionary measure to stop the spread of the disease.
