COVID-19: Over 2000 samples pending, Western Region’s case count climbs to 111

The Western Region Health Directorate has indicated that the region’s COVID-19 case count has risen from the 101 cases reported yesterday to 111, today. These cases per a report from the directorate are from the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis and the Effia Kwesimintsim Municipality.

The ten (10) new cases are distributed as follows; nine (9) in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis, and one (1) in the Effia Kwesimintsim Municipality.

This brings to total forty-nine (49) cases in the capital of the Western Region; Sekondi Takoradi- making it the epicenter for the pandemic in the region. The Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality follows with twenty-seven (27) cases.

One worrying incident in this very crisis is the fact that samples of suspected infected persons keep pilling up at the various testing facilities both local (Takoradi Veterinary Service Lab) and at Noguchi and KCCR.

As at today, a total of two thousand, nine hundred and ninety samples are pending testing. Relative to data reported yesterday, the rise is astronomical (864.52% rise from the 310 pending samples reported yesterday).

It is however no established the composition of these pending cases.
