COVID 19: Eight new cases confirmed in Western Region

Eight (8) new cases of COVID 19 have been confirmed in the Western Region. A deep throat source said these cases relate to samples taken during a routine surveillance across the region for the novel coronavirus. This brings to total , nine confirmed COVID 19 cases in the region.

Six (6) of the confirmed cases are from Sekondi-Takoradi, and the remainder (2) are from Axim, the source disclosed.

A Contact Tracing Team have been activated to identify contacts of the infected persons.

“In view of the exponential nature of infections by Covid-19 we need to brace ourselves for more cases. We should test all suspected cases, trace contacts and treat those affected. We need to strengthen our health education messages and emphasize on preventive measures” a message directed to the team and intercepted by Skyy News read.

The Regional Health Directorate is scheduled to update the public on this report tomorrow morning.
