Confirmed: COVID-19 cause of K.K Sam’s death, Health Minister infected too

Some clarity have been given by President, to issues regarding the state of health of the Minister for Health, Kwaku Agyeman Manu, and the death of the Mayor for the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis, Anthony Kobina Korantsir Sam.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo in his 10th address to the nation on the COVID-19 pandemic, has finally confirmed that the Health Minister has contracted the novel coronavirus. News of Hon. Kwaku Agyeman Manu contracting the virus had already gone viral, leaving Ghanaians to speculate, and others doubting the authenticity of the news. He is said to have been admitted at the University of Ghana Medical Service, Accra and receiving treatment.

The President noted that the Minister is stable and responding to treatment, and thus urged Ghanaians to offer a word of prayer for his recovery soon.

He also took the opportunity to wish families of the late Mayor for Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis, Anthony K.K Sam, his deepest condolences. He explained that his death was as a result of the COVID-19.

“Egya Sam to me and many whose efforts in enforcing social distancing protocols of the Sekondi and Takoradi Markets were recently highly commended by me and who sadly passed away on Friday as a result of COVID-19 related Death. may soul rest in perfect peace in the bosom of the almighty until the last day of the resurrection and we shall all meet again.

“Let us also wish our hard working Minister for Health, Hon. Kwaku Agyeman Manu, MP for Dormaa Central, a speedy recovery from the virus which he contract in the line of duty, and is in a stable condition” he said.
