Combating COVID-19: Zoomlion disinfecting 155 police stations in Western Region

Zoomlion Ghana Limited in partnership with the Ghana Police Service have begun a mass disinfection of all police stations and checkpoints in the Western Region. About 155 stations will be disinfected, over the next six days. The Regional Command is the first to be disinfected whiles the other stations undergo a similar treat in the in the ensuing days.

Western Region Manager for Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Abdulai Abdallah says the company has employed WHO recommended chemical solutions to disinfect all surfaces and space, so they can get rid of the coronavirus and other infectious agents that might be deposited at the police stations.

He said; “this will help reduce community spread of COVID-19”

Alhaji Abdallah underscore the impact their partnership with government and other parastatals have had over the past months in fighting the pandemic.

“The government and other partners including Zoomlion have done a lot to control the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. And we would like to encourage all citizens to support the efforts, including the adherence to all protocols on COVID-19 outlined by the Government of Ghana to help mitigate and control the spread of the disease” he elaborated.

Commander of the Ghana Police Service, Western Region Command, DCOP Felix Fosu-Agyeman stressed that the exercise would rid their stations and cells of of any viral infections.

“We are all aware that Police Stations are mostly accessed by the general public. This exercise will go a long way to halt the spread of COVID-19 in all the police stations in the region” he added.

Deputy Western Regional Minister, Gifty Eugenia Kusi

Deputy Western Regional Minister, Gifty Eugenia Kusi emphasized that the region has not been spared of the viral infection, adding that measures ought to be reinforced to stop the spread of the virus as quickly as possible. She however bemoaned the deviance by traders to preventive protocols outlined by government in fighting the pandemic.
