Clean your water tanks and stop blaming Ghana Water Company for unclean water – PRO
The public relations manager for the Ghana Water Company Stanley Martey has reiterated the call for Ghana to deal with illegal mining once and for all since its effect on their operations has become unbearable.
Speaking to Skyy Headline News, Mr Stanley Martey mentioned that very soon the people in the Western Regions will have difficulty when it comes to getting potable water to drink if we continue with the galamsey business.
He said, “In 2022, the Pra River went low beyond abstraction level due to the galamsey activities which was a problem, there was no water to treat for close to three months from the Daboase treatment plant.”
“If we don’t take care of our river bodies there will be no water to treat for the people in the near future due to the galamsey activities which we have already started to see its consequences.”
He also cautioned the general public to clean their water tanks and reservoirs periodically and stop blaming Ghana water for unclean water flowing through their taps.
He said, “if we don’t meet a certain standard when treating our water, we don’t pump them through our pipes to the general public.”
“But if you have a reservoir in your homes, we don’t have control over that and the best you can is to clean them regularly, a minimum of two times a year.”
