Members of the Ellembelle District Assembly have successfully confirmed the President’s nominee, Mr Kwesi Bonzo as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the district.
He secured thirty-five (35) out of fifty-two (52) valid votes cast with some fifteen (15) ‘NO’ and two (2) rejected ballots.
Some members of the assembly claim they were subjected to abuse by some military men and invisible forces.
One of the assembly members, Mr George Nyame of the Asasetre Electoral Area, alleged that the process of the elections was undemocratic.
He asserted that the DCE used invisible forces, military and the police to deter polling agents from being available during the counting of the votes after the elections.
Not only that, some assembly members, including himself, were brutalised when they requested to be present during the counting of the votes.
“I was slapped in the face, invisible forces, police and the military were all present during the vote count and prevented us from going anywhere close to the scene,” he alleged.
“He did not win the elections, we saw them mixing the NO’s and YES votes all together claiming he has won the elections, he did not win,” Mr Nyame added.
Mr Nyame indicated since he, including some assembly members and polling agents, were denied and per what he witnessed during the counting, Mr Bonzo K did not win the elections.
Another member of the assembly popularly known as Chairman Puto denied the allegations and made it known all members of the assembly were present including the polling agents during the counting.
He also indicated Mr Nyame’s allegations were false and defamatory as he is trying to tarnish the good image of Mr Kwesi Bonzo.
