A body of a young man who got drowned in the Whin River in Whindo, a suburb of Sekondi-Takoradi has been retrieved.
This follows several days of search by a rescue team in the community. It was reported his lifeless body was seen floating on the river on Thursday afternoon, July 8.
Skyy Power 93.5FM’s reporter Nana Yaw Kumi was at the scene when he confirmed the incident and disclosed that, the victim is believed to be in the ages of 19 to 20 years old.
However, according to members in the community, the body had gone missing for two days after drowning on Tuesday, July 6.
Also, the assemblyman in the community, Mr. Alex Acheampong explained that the victim is not from the Whindo community, but speaks the Ahanta dialect which some community members heard him speaking before the incident.
Moreover they have gone further to get in contact with a family member from neighbouring towns but to no avail.
Mr. Acheampong revealed an announcement will be made to all neighboring communities concerning the victim in the hope that a family would come out to claim the body.
The Ghana Police was called to the scene to convey the body to the Effia-Nkwanta mortuary for preservation.
