Two persons in their thirties (30s), Solomon Arku and Kwaku Prosper are currently in a very critical condition, after the two engaged in a bloody manchette fight over a disputed land at Kojokrom, a community in Elobonkanta in the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region.

The details of the case, according to the Municipal Police Commander DSP Valentine Akporsu, is that Solomon Arku was in the early hours of Sunday, May 17 2020, working on his farm when Kwaku Prosper appeared in the farm with a sharp machete. He then questioned Solomon for the reason he is working on a land which does not belong to him. Continued exchanges between the two led to Prosper slashing the right shoulder of Solomon. Solomon in return managed to collect the machete from Prosper and used it on him. He also suffered wounds from his hands and back.

He told us that Solomon Arku sustained deep cut machete wounds and is currently at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital receiving treatment, whilst Prosper is at the Agona Nkwanta health center.

The police have since commenced investigations into the cause of the issue.

“This case has been on our table for a long time. They have been having litigation about that particular land. The case has even gotten to the Regional Police Commander. Unfortunately, this happened this morning. We have begun investigations into the issue, and whoever is found guilty will be put before the laws. For what I know, this case is purely a land litigation issue and has nothing to do with Chieftaincy,” DSP DSP Valantine Akporsu told Mpimpimhene Nana Gyetuah of Skyy Power FM in Takoradi.
