Benso SHTS headmistress allegedly refunds monies collected from final year students
Headmistress of Benso Senior High Technical School, Mrs Helena Ama Dogobley has refunded monies collected from the final year students to transport examination materials from Takoradi to the school that is according to Assemblyman Frank Justin Afful.
The Headmistress is under investigation by the Ghana Education Service for extorting monies from students.
Speaking to Skyy News on the issue, the Assemblyman said officials from the Municipal and Regional Education office came to the school last week.
He said after interacting with students, himself and the Headmistress, the delegation told him that they will take a decision by the end of this week.
Mr Afful said the Headmistress has informed him of giving back the monies collected and appealed to him for the assembly’s support for a bus to transport the examination materials to the school.
He said, “From what she told me, she has refunded the money and the reason we are vocal about this issue is that she did not consult any member of the assembly.”
“The total number of students writing the WASSCE is 207 but I cannot confirm the number of people who had paid for the money, and people who I got the information from were people who have already paid.”
“Each student was supposed to pay GHS200, and even if there is no bus to convey the materials, they should have consulted the assembly like they did last year which we gave them a pickup truck for exercise.”
