President Nana Akufo-Addo has urged media practitioners in the country, to be responsible.

In what was the latest in a series of meetings with the leaderships of organised bodies at the Jubilee House, President Akufo-Addo met the National Media Commission on Wednesday.

Speaking at the meeting with the leadership of the National Media Commission, President Akufo-Addo stressed the essence of fact-checking before reporting on any subject.

”We want a free and also, a responsible media. That understanding of your work is one that a majority of Ghanaians will support. We want a free and responsible media that checks its facts as much as possible to portray situations as they are and not a media that is inventing things to serve short term measures”.

President Akufo-Addo while, commending them for their watchdog role, cautioned journalists to desist from false reportage and work towards solving societal problems, for national development

He also encouraged media owners to focus on the improvement of their human resource and capacity building to improve the standard of journalism in the country.
