The Electoral Commission of Ghana has confirmed, one of the aspirants contesting the Ellembele NPP Parliamentary primaries, Madam Anna Akaisi Miezah as a registered voter in the Ellembele constituency of the Western Region. She was verified at the Eikwe Market Center polling Station.

The name identified in the register was Asante-Asare Anna Horma, one she got as a result of solemnization. She was married to one Mr. Asante Asare.

This revelation puts to rest an unjustified allegation by a group in the party at the Ellembele Constituency; “Concerned Delegates” who claimed that Madam Akaisi Miezah is not a registered voter in the constituency and that her confirmation as the parliamentary aspirant on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party in the constituency is a breach of Article 12, section 5 of the party constitution.

In an effort to bring some truth and an end to this fruitless allegation, Madam Akaisi Miezah on Saturday 14 September, 2019 submitted her voter ID card to the Eikwe Market Polling station and was verified by the Electoral Commission’s verification officer, Kofi Nyarko Abronoma.

Madam Anna Akaisi Miezah who is currently serving as the Western Region Treasurer of the ruling New Patriotic Party, told Skyy News’ Eric Gyetuah in an exclusive interview that due process need to be followed in challenging an aspirants eligibility, and not through media. She charged entreated delegates not to fall for the propaganda met out at her.

“We have one party, and the people we are fighting are not within the NPP. The upcoming primary is only to help us elect persons who can represent the party in the constituency. We have structures in the party and I believe anyone who is aggrieved has to seek redress using the structures and not through the media. Going to the media means we are washing our dirty clothes in public, and whatever we throw in the public will come back and hunt us. My contenders have said I do not come from Ellembelle. I hail here Eikwe …where I stand today, and this is my polling station. I vote here and I am a registered voter in Ellembelle” she stressed.

According to her, the NPP will be victorious in the 2020 general elections, recapture the seat from three time Member of Parliament Mr. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah of the NDC.

“Coming 2020, let’s all come together as a party and tell the NDC and Mr Armah Kofi Buah that, we have had enough of his rule, we are uprooting him like a cassava. The seat is originally for us and we are coming back to take it because the NPP has a lot of packages for the people of Ellembelle” she promised

She is of the firm conviction that, the NPP delegates in Ellembelle will on September 28, 2019 vote massively for her to represent the party in the 2020 general elections.

“Ellembelle NPP has never had a female candidate and as a regional treasurer, I’m putting myself up here for this contest and together with my delegates, I believe that on 28th of September, by the grace of God, I will be elected and lead this party to victory in 2020” she said.
