Some delegates in the Ellembelle constituency in the Western Region have said they are surprised that the vetting committee of the New Patriotic Party vetted and approved the candidature of Anna Horma Akaisi Miezah, one of the contestants in the upcoming parliamentary election. According to them evidence from the Electoral Commission has proven that the candidate in question has been voting at Madina in the Greater Accra Region in both the 2012 and 2016 general elections, making her unqualified to contest in Ellembelle.

Madam Akaisi Miezah is currently the Western Region Treasurer of the NPP.

The group; Concerned Delegates Association referenced that the nomination of Madam Akaisi Miezah contravenes Article 12, Section 5 of the NPP Constitution, which  “demands that all candidates presenting themselves for elections in a constituency must be a registered voter in the constituency”

At a press conference today at Esiama, the group expressed their displeasure over how a candidate who is a registered voter in the Madina Constituency in the Greater Accra Region could be brought to contest in the primaries.

Stephen Kwaw Blay, spokesperson for the Ellemebele Concerned delegates association, who addressed the press this morning said “we’ve done our search and our search result showed that Madam Anna Horma Akaisi Miezah known to the Electoral Commission as Asante Asare Hana Horma, registered in and voted in the 2012 general election at the Charismatic Evangelistic Ministry Polling Station of the Madina Constituency in the Greater Accra Region”

Mr Blay explained that the disparity in the names of the aspirant [Madam Akaisi Miezah] was as a result of solemnization. She was married to one Mr. Asante Asare in 2012 but reverted to her original name in 2016 when the marriage broke, Mr Blay told the media.

“This is public information and can be verified by anyone. Her voter ID is 1294028061, and that of her polling station code in Madina is C0506031.

“…she also registered and vote in the same electoral area in 2012” Mr Blay said as he presented exhibits to justify the claim.

He added that the widely acclaimed Madam Akaisi Meizah is deceitful as “as her claim to have voted in 2016 in Ekwe” is untrue.

“It is a no. A big No. She lied. She never voted at Ekwe Catholic Primary School. Nowhere in the polling station list will you find the name Anna Horma Akaisi Meizah or Asante Asare Anna Hormah” he fired.

He alleged that Madam Akaisi Meizah in a rather “altruistic” manner became known in the party circles just when the party came into power.

He charged that such evidence must be basis to vote against her candidature in the coming primaries.
