A Former Vice Chairman for the National Democratic Congress in the Amenfi East Constituency, Nana Kofi Atokyi, is accusing the Regional Chairman, Nana Toku of imposing a parliamentary candidate on delegates for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

According to him, Nana Toku and the Acting Constituency Chair Robert Gyan, are conniving to declare one Nicholas Amankwah as ‘unopposed‘ despite the existence of a formidable contender in the person of Rex Asamoah Twum for the primaries.

The two, together with Dr. Tony Aubynn and Joshua Nanaba Attobrah expressed interest in 2019, to contest the parliamentary primaries, which later ended up in a ‘holdup’.

Joshua Nanaba Attobrah rescinded his decision and Mr. Attobrah pledged his support for Dr. Aubyn candidature, leaving Rex Asamoah Twum to the contest.

But things went bad for Rex Asamoah Twum, as he was suspended by the party for distributing some liquid fertilizers ‘freely’ to delegates.

But Nana Atokyi reveals that; “a letter has been received from the Regional Executives to declare Nicholas Amankwah unopposed who initially stepped down and resigned from contesting.”

“This will result in chaos and the massive defeat of the party in the upcoming Parliamentary and Presidential Elections,” he added.

He is, therefore, praying that the right thing is done to save the party from an imminent loss.

“This is mainly due to the bias and undemocratic approach employed by Nana Toku and others right from our Constituency Executive Elections which excluded the Chairmanship and also our pended Parliamentary Primaries which has since not been held dated back in September 2019.”
