Though the novel coronavirus has brought the world to stand still and cast doubt over several events, especially outdoor ones, Western Region’s radio station, and market leader, Skyy Power FM still pulled one that participants described as “a wonderful, super fun-filled outdoor event”, amidst strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols, to celebrate fathers for their immense contributions in raising their children.
The event was characterised by cooking, as four fathers, selected over the space of three weeks, showcased their cooking talents. The cooking competition, which was decided on to test how fathers can also cook to help the family, had four participants; Mr. Solomon Appoh, Pastor Akwetey Sowah, Mr. Isaac Dennis, and Mr. Paul Ennin.
The Skyy Father’s Day Cooking competition was full of fun and excitement, making the forecourt of Skyy House, the venue of attraction for many last Sunday.
The fathers had to prepare Jollof within an hour for the judges to adjudge who amongst them was better to merit the tile of Skyy Father of The Year 2020. All the contestants showcased superior talents in cooking; whilst some prepared Jollof with grilled chicken and salad, others cooked Jollof with grilled chicken and guacamole and many more.
And it was not just all about cooking. The event organisers; Skyy Power FM are a noted brand for super events, and they delivered once again with the fusion of music with the sweet aroma-filled atmosphere. Musician, Qwesi Ghana passed through to entertain the audience and had a good performance on that day.
At the end of the contest, the judges crowned Mr. Solomon Appoh as the winner for the Skyy Father’s Day Cooking Challenge. He took home a rice cooker and a hamper from our sponsors.
Mr. Akwetey Sowah was the 1st runner up for the day, and took home a blender, and a hamper from the sponsors. Mr. Isaac Dennis was the 2nd runner up for the day, and also took home a kettle and a hamper from our sponsors.

“The competition was well organised, and that made everything run smoothly. The judges were on top of their game to taste our foods. God bless all fathers,” he said.
