The National Response Team is working tirelessly with the Western Region’s Team to contain and curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, which is infecting over a thousand people in the area. The latest report from the Western Region Health Directorate, indicates that the deadly disease has infected a total of one thousand and fifty-three (1,053) people. About 40 percent of the cases, representing four hundred and thirty-one (431) are report from the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality, whiles 32 percent representing three hundred and thirty-seven (337) of the cases are reported for the capital; Sekondi-Takoradi.
These two cities have been identified as the epicenters of the novel coronavirus in the Western Region.
Two (2) more people have also been discharged bringing to total nine hundred and seventeen (917) patients, to be have been cleared to return homes as they did not develop any illness nor symptoms of a disease fourteen days (14) after testing positive for the virus. The Health Directorate explains that these person will be monitored at their homes as they await a final test to prove negative for the disease.
However, the fear of transfering the virus has been calmed with an assurance based on scientific data, that they pose no risk to any individual even in this state.
The fortunate news despite the spike in the positive cases is that, thirty-three (33) infected people have recovered from the virus, and three (3) others have died.
The Regional Surveillance Team continues to screen and test suspected persons for the virus as government adopts an enhance contact tracing and testing approach to contain and manage the spread of the disease
