Ghana has confirmed 15 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total count to 68.
A joint press conference by the Ministries of Information, Health and Education, announced 25 more cases yesterday before one more case was confirmed later in the evening. That figure now increases to 68 after the Ghana Health Service confirmed 15 new cases today.
The means 41 new cases have been confirmed in the last 24 hours alone. These new cases are part of 185 tests conducted on 613 people. They belong to a group of 1000 Ghanaians who are currently under quarantine after arriving in the country.
”As at the morning of 25 March 2020, a total of 68 cases including two deaths have been confirmed,” GHS said in its daily update”.
”The sudden spike in case incidence is as a result of the mandatory quarantine and compulsory testing for all travelers entering Ghana, as directed by the president. Overall, 30 of the 68 cases have been reported in the general population with the remaining 38 cases among persons currently under mandatory quarantine” the statement said.
Their quarantine forms part of measures, announced by the government to stop the spread of the novel Coronavirus.
