Second Vice Chair of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Mr. Fredrick Fredua Anto is urging party faithful to remain calm, as they await a final approval from the National Executive Council, on a recommended list of parliamentary aspirants from the thirteen constituencies in the Western Region of Ghana.
Mr. F.F Anto who chaired the vetting committee in the Western Region told skyypowerfm.com that their recommendations will be subjected to an appeal from any of the contenders/nominees who have been excluded from the list.
“This is a recommendation by the regional vetting committee. This report will go to the National Executive Committee for approval. If someone has a dissenting view, he or she can raise it there, and there will be an argument over it. The one with a convincing argument may overcome the decision. This is not a final decision” he told Skyy News.
He disclosed that the party per their constitution, has an Appeals Committee to interrogate or respond to appeals from any of disgruntled nominee or party member.
Mr. F.F Anto said persons whose names have been published on their recommended list may proceed with their campaigning as parliamentary aspirants for the party.
“Of course they can now start campaigning because they are on now heading towards becoming our parliamentary aspirants” he mentioned.
He took the opportunity to advise ‘disqualified’ nominees and their supporters to refrain from violence and insults.
“People should be cool. They should take it as it is. This should not lead to demonstrations and fighting among our party people” he added.
Per a report signed by Second Vice Chair, F.F Anto and the Western Region Secretary of the NPP, Charles Bissue, and sited by skyypowerfm.com, twenty out of the twenty-eight nominees have been recommended as parliamentary aspirants in their respective constituencies.
