The Western Region Secretary for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Charles Bissue has rebutted claims by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that projects that the NPP claims to have started in the region are a mirage. In fact, they described it as ‘sakawa projects’ arguing that they have not witnessed any physical work caused by it since the government cut the sod for construction to begin.
The PTC interchange, Shama District Hospital, and other road projects in the Ahanta West and Mpohor Districts were listed among such projects.
But Mr. Bissue responded, by arguing that the President has the goodwill of the Ghanaian people, and won’t compromise on that. He mentioned that the Akufo-Addo government is committed to giving the region its fair share of the national cake.
“The President came here to cut sod the redevelopment of the market circle, it’s ongoing…same is the GNPC Headquarters, and there are more. So most of the projects the President and his Vice came to initiate are all advancing, and this means that the PTC interchange and all others will come off and planned.
“Saying that it’s progressing steadily could mean that there could be paper works ongoing and when all is done they come to the construction site. This is not about Green-book or Blue-book. They are actual projects that are going to be executed,” he emphasized.
Mr. Bissue remarked that the accomplishment in terms of fulfillment of manifesto promises by the Akufo-Addo government has been impressive.
“…we’ve delivered most of it, and I have not seen any government achieve over 50 percent of its manifesto in just this limited period…and we’ve achieved that much in the midst of COVID-19.”
Commenting on the latest survey by the University of Ghana, which projected that President Akifo-Addo is likely to win the Dec 7 elections, Mr. Bissue stated that the results could be reflective of what the people had realized with the transformation and honesty with which government has been delivering on its promises.
“…it helps and mostly, it boosts your morale that you doing the right thing.”
He however added that the party will not get complacent over the report but work much harder to effect yet another humiliating defeat on John Dramani Mahama and his NDC party.
